Thank you for visiting our website. As the founder of Mechanic-on-Duty I am passionate about what we can do for you. For approximately ten years, I managed two auto warranty businesses that utilized the services of the auto repair industry day-in and day-out. We were major consumers of their services. Time and again, we were presented with exaggerated bills for the most common repairs. Repairs that should have cost $400.00 might be billed out at twice that amount. If the repair involved a major drive train component, like an engine or transmission, the cost could easily be a couple thousand dollars over and above a “fair” price.

Very often our claims people felt it necessary to question the diagnostic approach of the mechanics calling in the claims. And, in many instances, we were forced to utilize the services of independent inspection companies to help separate fact from fiction. If these things can happen to a company with deep and broad-based mechanical experience, then what chance does the average motorist have when an auto repair pops up?

It is for this very reason that Mechanic-on-Duty was launched. At MOD we have replicated the knowledge and experience developed firsthand while paying thousands and thousands of auto repair bills. And, as the Motorist's Advocate when it comes to costly auto repairs, we will represent your interests by focusing on three important risks common to all auto repairs: 1) is the vehicle being properly diagnosed; 2) does the repair facility’s estimated cost to repair the vehicle represent a fair price; and 3) is the vehicle at the right type of facility given the nature of the repair.

About Mechanic On Duty (MOD)As a MOD member, you can be assured that we will provide you with an independent and professional assessment as to how your service repair facility is performing in these important areas. Most members bring us into the repair process at the outset by showing their membership card to the repair facility representative and asking them to call us before undertaking any work. In other instances, members obtain a written estimate from the repair facility and then the member contacts MOD directly. Either way, MOD members now think differently when it comes to costly auto repairs. Now, they know they have their own Mechanic-on-Duty.
