With Mechanic-on-Duty membership, employees and members will receive invaluable car repair support
August 25, 2010 (Toms River, NJ) – The First Atlantic Federal Credit Union, one of New Jersey’s largest financial organizations, will be providing Mechanic-on-Duty (MOD) memberships to all employees and offering the exclusive roadside assistance, vehicle maintenance and repair service to its 31,000 members.
Mechanic-on-Duty (MOD) serves as the motorist’s advocate through its Smart Savings program, which comprises Repair AuditTM and Repair ChatTM. Through MOD’s beneficial service, employees and members of the First Atlantic Federal Credit Union will now have access to a resource that can help reduce their anxiety and financial risk when it comes to auto repairs.
“First Atlantic Federal Credit Union is a major financial institution in New Jersey. This partnership allows us to add significantly to our footprint in the State,” says Martin E. Conlon, CEO and Founder of Mechanic-on-Duty.
As an affordable, membership-based service, MOD provides the motorist with unlimited access to its in-house team of professional auto repair specialists. When a consumer becomes a MOD member, repair specialists work with the consumer’s repair person, to keep the focus on three critical areas:
1) Ensure that the proper diagnostic approach has been utilized.
2) Audit the automotive facility’s cost to repair the vehicle.
3) Determine if the vehicle is at the right repair facility given the nature of the repair.
Since its founding, Mechanic-On-Duty has been the premier advocate for motorists when it comes to costly auto repairs. MOD does not generate any revenue from auto repair industry sources. To enroll online, visit www.mechaniconduty.com or call MOD at 1-888-690-5663. Don’t forget to ask how your employees or organization can receive the MOD membership as part of an employee benefits package.

Listen to one of our members talk about almost over paying for a transmission repair. Once Stavra called us with the repair bill estimate MOD went to work, found a local repair shop and negotiated the repair for a reasonable rate. MOD not only saved our member money on the repair but she was also considering buying a new car! Now for a lot less our member got to keep the car she has always loved: good-as-new!
What are you about to over pay for? Repairs come up suddenly.
Mechanic-on-Duty specializes in dealing directly with the repair facility – on your behalf.
Estimate: $7029.55
MOD’s Negotiated Repair: $2250.00
Member Saved: $4779.55
The Tax on the original estimate alone was over $450.00!

People blame the economy for layoffs, unemployment, frugal spending and parsimonious lifestyles- even when it comes to their health and auto insurance. I must admit that even I fall into this category. I cut corners to save money. For instance, instead of health insurance I have techniques to prevent health concerns and illness: I eat healthy, exercise, and visit a physician at least once a year. Additionally, my auto insurance has low coverage and a high deductible. Oh yes, I live on the thrifty side. But, I am still being careful with my car because I have prevention technique for that too; it’s called Mechanic-on-Duty.
Many Americans are experiencing the same types of issues with insurance and cutbacks. Similarly, American motorists are contributing to the trends of the auto industry regarding lower insurance coverage, decreased car sales and more frequent repair servicing.
Recently, I discovered the average car is 9 ½ years old! This means two things: One, the average US motorist has no car payments and lower insurance premiums as a result of lower coverage. Secondly, the decade-old vehicle is likely to need a repair soon. Presumably, this repair will result in a bill which will indicate a laundry list of repairs that our low insurance coverage will not cover.
Like many of you, my car is the sole means of transportation for my family. For this reason alone, I wish I could invest more time and energy into my vehicle. So I do what I can. I cross my fingers, blame the economy, and use Mechanic-on-Duty for all my automotive questions, concerns, pricing and negotiation.

The atmosphere at the Jersey Shore is pleasant for many reasons. First and foremost, the Jersey Shore brings New Jersey residents, locals and tourists outside for some fun in the sun, sand and waves. Aside from the beach, the Jersey Shore is a hot spot for family-friendly boardwalks, games, dining and entertainment. Yet another reason to love the Jersey Shore is brought to us by the Vintage Auto Club of Ocean County.
On the second Wednesday of every summer month, the Vintage Auto Club of Ocean County hosts “Cruisin’ Downtown” in the heart of downtown Toms River’s business district, just outside Mechanic-on-Duty headquarters office. The summer event series features classic cars, collectables, vintage autos, hotrods and motorcycles. The summer car exhibition certainly makes summer fun for auto enthusiasts. But anyone and everyone who comes is sure to enjoy the games, giveaways, great food and music.
Lucky for us, the Mechanic-on-Duty headquarters office is located downtown Toms River! Our staff enjoys Cruisin’ Downtown because over 200,000 spectators, participants and sponsors gather together to share our passion for exceptional engines and quality car care.
Keep in mind, while the summer can be the most enjoyable season, it can also be the most strenuous on cars. So if you plan to visit the Jersey Shore or go Cruisin’ in your own Downtown this summer, remember to keep up with your vehicle’s maintenance appointments, oil changes and fluid levels!
